Making your own worm remedies may require more effort than buying conventional worming pills from the vet. Home remedies for cats with tapeworms will cure your cat the natural way and are equally effective, so it’s worth the effort.
For your home-made medication to work, you have to put your cat on a semi-fast. The last meal of the day should be at least two hours before the second dose of medication is administered.
Below you will find a four day treatment plan. Due to the life cycle of tape worms de-worming your cat will require several cycles of medication; i.e. you have to repeat the process twice after eight weeks.
This is how to create and administer your own worming remedy: Mix half a teaspoon of male fern oil with some water, apple cider vinegar and honey and give one dropperful in the morning and one in the evening. If the infestation is severe, increase the dose of male fern oil to one teaspoon.
Soak two senna pods for 8 hours in water, add a pinch of ginger and give one dropperful on the first and on the third morning of the treatment cycle, two hours after the fern oil treatment.
On day 3 mix one teaspoon of lemon with one teaspoon of honey and one tablespoon of water and add the male fern oil to this mixture. Give one dropperful in the morning and evening.
On the morning of day 4 give three dropperfuls of a chamomile and slippery elm tisane, and then again four times during the day. This concludes one treatment cycle.
Keep giving your cat two dropperfuls of the tisane for another two weeks morning and evening. This will heal any ulceration the tapeworm may have caused.
